Piotr Tabakiernik Pascha crucifixionis (2024-2025)** for choir, orchestra, audio and video layers (Warsaw Autumn commission)

The passion genre today: how to compose it so that it is credible to contemporary audiences and open to new means of expression? The composer provides a culturally and artistically erudite answer. The music in this work is not subject to mechanical metre; rather, it is creafted by the performers’ intuition, the rhythm of their breathing, thoughts and pulse. Ebb and flow. Listening to the beating of the heart, in which “deep calls to deep”… Can a soul in love with God, who gave his life for it, dance? Standing on the threshold, in the gap between death and life, where Passover continues?

The work Pascha crucifixionis by Piotr Tabakiernik has been cofinanced by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage’s Culture Promotion Fund, within the Composing Commissions programme, implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance.
