Żukowski, Włodzimierz
Composer, improviser, lighting designer, and multimedia artist. Musical composition lies at the centre of his practice, but he also explores related fields including generative art, lighting, visual art, and creative coding. These converge in interdependent, interdisciplinary works that often employ original, bespoke technological solutions. His compositions have been performed by Ensemble Musikfabrik, Neue Vocalsolisten, Kwartludium, and Chopin University Modern Ensemble. His installations have been presented at Warsaw Autumn.
Improvised music is another important strand of his work. He has cocreated improvisation projects with Bartosz Mularski, Patrycja Kołodziejska, and Olga Pasek. He is a cofounder of Collectif 4, both an ensemble and a foundation, through which he co-organises contemporary-music concerts.
Selected works: Concerto for quartertone Hammond organ, harp and string orchestra (2022), K5(6) for live electronics and ensemble (2023), Pyramid texts 436 for five voices and small ensemble (2023), an orange balloon drifting over snow-capped mountains for electric guitar, ensemble, live electronics and lights (2024), endsay I for viola, live electronics and media (2024), endsay II for viola, chamber ensemble, live electronics and media (2025).
