The piece was composed for Michele Marelli and OMN and premiered at NOSPR Katowice in November 2020. Its title refers to the construction of the instrument, in which the opening and closing of the tone holes allows for pitch change. In the section featuring a B♭ clarinet, a super flexible 3D printed plastic reed invented by Panayiotis Kokoras has been used.

The work was created with the financial support of the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage as part of the Composing Commissions programme.
