Młoda Orkiestra Nowego Teatru (Nowy Teatr Youth Orchestra) MONT

Nowy Teatr Youth Orchestra (MONT) is an educational project addressed to young persons who dream of making music together, launched at the Nowy Teatr early in 2018 as a response to the gradual disappearance of music lessons from primary schools. Since then, MONT has been a platform for joint creative activity and music education, including vocal training, voice projection, choral and part-singing.

The Orchestra performs songs by contemporary composers such as Jerzy Rogiewicz, Barbara Wrońska, and Małgorzata Penkalla, as well as works well-known from theatrical plays and films. MONT has already created several professional productions, including the concert-spectacle Seas (dir. Pia Partum), which is part of the Nowy Theatre’s regular repertoire. In 2020 the jury of the 11th Warsaw Cultural Education Award granted to MONT the 1st prize in the category of projects presented by artistic institutions and museums.

Directed by Dagna Sadkowska, the Orchestra gives cyclic concerts at the Nowy Teatr, which makes it possible to present the project results to the wide audience. The concerts, including those presented as part of the Little Warsaw Autumn, aim at promote the idea of collective music-making, general musical education, and the broadly conceived development of musical and social competences.
