Szulc, Monika (formerly Jazownik)
She graduated in music theory from the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań and in Polish philology from the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw, followed by postgraduate studies: Music in Media at Warsaw’s Collegium Civitas and culture management at the SGH Warsaw School of Economics. A journalist writing for Presto. Muzyka Film Sztuka, and Presto Junior, she has also contributed to Opcje, Teatr, Glissando, Odra, Ruch Muzyczny, and Załącznik Kulturoznawczy. She is the author and coordinator of numerous culture-and-education projects, such as a regular multimedia competition dedicated to Stanisław Moniuszko. She also occasionally teaches courses for would-be cultural studies specialists at the Wyszyński University. She researches the intersemiotic perspectives on music and links between art and education. She has published the book Around Schizoid Theatre of the Absurd: Lidia Zielińska’s Cascando after Samuel Beckett (2003) as well as academic papers in volumes of conference proceedings. As a music teacher she is passionate about instilling and building sensitivity to art in young people. Her fascinations include neuroatypical brain functioning.
