Moniuszko Sigma is a miniature that emerged from conversations as well as rhythms and tunes composed by children from the Primary School no. 344 in Warsaw. Formally, the piece is based on a score individually co-created by each child and worked out jointly during workshops. The piece also includes a Belarusian melody dictated to me by one of the girls. The composition is a kind of simple reportage with no great artistic ambitions. Should at least one of the young workshop participants become interested in classical (even better – contemporary!) music as a result of this project, it will mean that my purpose has been achieved.
