Tkaczyk, Alicja
Alicja Tkaczyk’s artistic practice is, in itself, an ecological manifesto. An artist, educator and designer, she addresses the climate catastrophe through work rooted in recycling, using discarded materials as both her medium and her source of inspiration. Committed to zero-waste design and trashion, she creates original garments and textiles while striving to leave no waste behind.
She completed an MA in Textile and Interior Styling with distinction at the Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts Łódź, where she also trained in Fashion Design. She currently teaches at Opole University of Technology, alongside developing her artistic and educational practice.
Her work has featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions, including at the Academic Design Centre and the Central Museum of Textiles in Łódź, Carbon Footprint Summit in Kraków, Gdynia Design Days, and Fabryka Sztuk in Tczew. Her collections have also been shown at Wrocław Fashion Week, OFF FASHION in Kielce, the Freedom Parade in Łódź, and the WOW Fashion Awards in Warsaw.
For Agata Koszulińska’s Uroboros: A Revue for Three Actresses at Komuna Warszawa, Tkaczyk designed the costumes and objects and cocreated the exhibition design. She also designed the set and costumes for Victoria Myronyuk’s The Broken Heart Clinic, presented at the Łódź of Many Cultures Festival.
