Strycharski, Dominik
Composer, recorder player, vocalist, improviser, performer, and writer. Largely self-taught in all these fields, he complemented his artistic practice with studies in Music Education at the University of Silesia in Cieszyn.
A versatile artist with a fascination for virtually every manifestation of music, he has released more than 30 albums with his own or co-led projects, most notably Pulsarus, as well as Core 6, Rhplus, Prophetic Fall, Max Klezmer Band, Pardon To Tu Orchestra, and as a solo artist.
He has composed music for more than 90 theatre and dance productions. He also leads experimental vocal workshops, combining the development of vocal awareness with improvisation and collective creative practice. Since 1 April 2015, he has maintained a unique ongoing musical diary, creating a musical or sonic composition or structure every day as part of an open-ended artistic process.
Together with DJ CueFx, he cofounded the production duo BandFx, with which he has released several albums. He was also a member of Kostas New Program, recording three albums and performing extensively with the group. He is regarded as one of the pioneers of live electronic club performance in Poland. For nearly two decades, he has cooperated with DJs and was among the first Polish musicians to incorporate turntables as a performance instrument.
From 2001 onwards, he was a composer and performer with Teatr Bretoncaffe, an award-winning theatre company. Productions created by the company—including Lustro, Slam. In, S-nic, Slam.Out, T.Raum, Smuggy, Opera Toffi, Manifest Jaszczurki, Dion.Is.Us, and Agave—have been presented regularly at festivals in Poland and abroad, including in Berlin, Tallinn, Paris, Budapest, and Prague.
