is a violist, viola d’amore player, and has been a member of Ensemble for New Music Tallinn since its founding. At the age of 17,  she discovered a strong passion for music as a form of expression  through her involvement in the creation of the alternative guitar  noise rock band Marie Curie.

As a musician, she is particularly interested in the interaction  between sound, resonance, and space in contemporary music.  She currently focuses on the resonance of string instruments  and the possibilities opened up by scordatura tunings, exploring  the new colours and expressive qualities they reveal in the instrument. Alongside her engagement with contemporary repertoire,  she also performs early music on the viola d’amore.

Talvi studied viola at the Georg Ots Tallinn Music School, Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, and University of Music and  Performing Arts Vienna, where she studied with Wolfgang Klos  and Ulrich Schönauer. She has participated in masterclasses in  both classical and contemporary music, including Klangspuren  Schwaz, Impuls, Darmstadt, and studied Baroque music with  Sirkka-Liisa Kaakinen-Pilch.
