Wielokulturowa Grupa Artystyczna Teatru Guliwer (Guliwer Puppet Theatre Multicultural Artistic Group)
Based permanently at the Guliwer Puppet Theatre, the Group brings together children and teenagers aged eight to fourteen. Working regularly alongside the theatre’s team, they cocreate a wide range of artistic forms and activities, including creative projects, staged readings and even short theatrical presentations. Weekly workshops, discussions, brainstorming sessions and rehearsals give the participants space to devise short performances, write song lyrics and stories, and work through visual art, dance and acting. They also gain an inside view of an arts institution and of such professions as stage designer, director, actor. visual artist, and many others, while regularly advising the theatre on its work. The adults who founded the Group deliberately keep it out of artistic and creative competitions, whose competitive ethos they regard as incompatible with integration, multiculturalism and diversity.
The Group was founded in the 2022/23 season, as large numbers of children with migration experiences were arriving in Warsaw. At first, its members communicated in several different languages. Children of different nationalities, orientations and social backgrounds are welcome, including neurodivergent persons. They form connections through shared creative work, and communicate through the languages of theatre and contemporary art. The Group currently has twelve members.
