Developed in close cooperation with the Frullato Mixed Choir,  this work is scored for choir, electronics, and lights. Its title,  taken from a translation of J. R. R. Tolkien’s Sindarin poem Ir  Ithil ammen Eruchín, reflects the premise behind the composition: a search for the semantic spaces between a literal place and  a place as symbol, freighted with associations, meanings, and  emotions.

The electronic layer was constructed from synthesised sounds  repeatedly played back and re-recorded in urban acoustic spaces.  Through this iterative process, the synthetic material gradually  absorbed the physical properties and resonance of its surroundings, becoming a bearer of the identity of specific places.
