is a type of chant from the southern regions of Iran, a form of  song performed at funerals or wakes/vigils, sharveh is essentially a lamentation for the lost dead. The music of the southern port cities of the Persian Gulf is, in the common awareness  of the Iranian people, associated with the bagpipe sound and  music. While there is no standardised form of sharveh (šarva)  chant (i.e. it could be sung in any maqam and set the text of any  short poem), it usually implies quatrains and a few recognisable  maqams, depending on the region. There are many types of sharveh accompanied by the bagpipe. This piece is inspired by sharveh from the Bushehr region.
