Krzewińska, Katarzyna
born in 1991, she composes instrumental works, theatre, and electroacoustic music. She has graduated from Cracow’s Academy of Music and from Agata Zubel’s class at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław (MMus in composition).
In 2016 she won a competition coorganised by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, which allowed her to take part in London Philharmonic Orchestra’s LPO Young Composers Programme. As part of this programme, she composed beneath the surface for two percussionists and orchestra, performed during a Debut Sounds concert in London. She represented Poland in the 8th Music Masters on Air (MusMA) international project and took part in the 24th Young Composers’ Meeting in Apeldoorn.
Her works have been performed during events and festivals such as Wratislavia Cantans, Klarafestival, Festival de Wallonie, Mittelfest, Saxå Kammarmusikfestival, Young Composers’ Meeting, and Debut Sounds. She has worked closely with London Philharmonic Orchestra, Ex Novo Ensemble, de ereprijs, Sound Factory Orchestra, Ensemble Marges, and many others.
She has also written music for theatre productions as such Long Live Poland / A Right-Wing Play (dir. Radosław B. Maciąg, National Stary Theatre in Cracow, 2019) and The Karamazov Brothers (dir. Marta Streker, Ludwik Solski Theatre in Tarnów, 2020).
