Kowalski, Bartosz
composer, educator (as Dr Bartosz Kowalski-Banasewicz), multiinstrumentalist and youtuber (nick: Bartmuz). As a composer, he has created 132 works and won prizes in 26 competitions, including the Grand Prix of Krzysztof Penderecki’s Arboretum International Composers’ Competition, Kazimierz Serocki International Composition Competition, National Grzegorz Fitelberg Competition for Composers, Musica Sacra Nova (five times), Tadeusz Baird Young Composers’ Competition (three times), and many others. He works as an assistant professor at the Chair of Music Education of the Chopin University of Music in Warsaw and teaches film music composition at the Grażyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz University of Music in Łódź.
As an improvising multiinstrumentalist, he frequently plays instruments such as the trumpet, cornet, horn, recorders, guitars, objectophones, including with electronics. He has performed with Krzysztof Knittel, Jerzy Kornowicz, Marek Chołoniewski, Mieczysław Litwiński, Tadeusz Sudnik, Ryszard Latecki, Michał Górczyński, Bart Pałyga, Marta Grzywacz, and Wojciech Błażejczyk. He was a cofounder and member of Sonofrenia trio, with which he appeared notably at Warsaw’s Audio Art festival, Chopin Transgressions, Poznań Music Spring, and Świętokrzyskie Music Days at the Kielce Philharmonic, where he was composerin-residence. He has also been a guest appearance with the Mud Cavaliers collective at a concert titled Lutosławski Archipelago held at the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio of Polish Radio. For his outstanding achievements, he received the Gloria Artis Bronze Medal of Merit for Culture.
