countertenor, graduate of the Vocal Department of the Fryderyk Chopin University in Warsaw in the class of Artur Stefanowicz. He made his debut when still a student as Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus. 

His subsequent roles have included the First Witch in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, Neron in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea, Neron in Handel’s Agrippina, Rinaldo in Handel’s Rinaldo, Cherubino in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, and the title role in Sławomir Kupczak’s Voyager. 

His debuts in the years 2017–19 include Stéphano in Gounod’s Romeo and Juliet at the Silesian Opera in Bytom, Horse–Seaman in the world premiere of The Manufacture Man by composition award winner Rafał Janiak at the Grand Theatre in Łódź, and Cherubino in a new production of Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro at the Warsaw Chamber Opera. 

In the 2019/20 season, he has appeared in the title role in Karol Nepelski’s Birdy world premiere at the Tête à Tête Opera Festival in London, and has returned to the roles of Neron’s Agrippinaat the Silesian Opera in Bytom and Orlofsky at the Castle Opera in Szczecin. His projects for the 2020/21 season include Urania in a concert version of Nicola Porpora’s Filandro at the Bydgoszcz Baroque Scene Festival and the countertenor part in Kaija Saariaho’s Only the Sound Remains at the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan Theatre, a production which has also been shown at the Venice Biennale in September 2021. 

Michał Sławecki is renowned for his interpretations of contemporary works, cooperating with leading Polish composers such as Paweł Mykietyn, Bartosz Chajdecki, Maciej Zieliński, and Andrzej Zarycki. He has appeared at the Warsaw Philharmonic, Silesian Opera in Bytom, Polski Theatre in Warsaw, Grand Theatre – National Opera in Warsaw, Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz, Castle Opera in Szczecin, and Malta’s Manoel Theatre, as well as concert stages in Lithuania, Latvia, Malta, France, Germany, Greece, Austria, South Africa, Serbia, and Kazakhstan.
