Wnuk, Aleksander
Born in 1987, multipercussionist, performer, improviser, sound author, and Doctor of the Arts. He studied in Denmark, Poland, Austria, and Germany. He graduated from the Music Academy in Gdańsk and the Royal Music Conservatoire in Copenhagen in the class of Gert Mortensen, where he also completed the prestigious postgraduate Soloist Class. He completed his education at the International Summer Courses for New Music in Darmstadt, Impuls Academy for Contemporary Music in Graz, and ensemble recherche Academy in Freiburg.
He specialises in contemporary music performance as a soloist and chamber musician. His repertoire as a soloist and chamber musician focuses on multipercussion and intermedia works, encompassing classic works as well as new compositions. He creates his own sound projects, including the latest Lupnik, and is also active as a free improviser, author and performer of stage and dance music (notably Manhattan), lm music, traditional music as well as crossover genres between free rock, noise, and ambient music. He has published essays in the Glissando magazine. His leading achievements include the world premiere of En Face, a concerto for solo percussion, speaker and orchestra by Sara Nemtsov, as well as a solo version, En Face: Solitude.
He is a member of ensembles such as Spółdzielnia Muzyczna Contemporary Ensemble, Cracow Improvisers Orchestra, the Wnuk-Lazar duo, and Echoes of Peace. He is a guest appearance with the Hashtag Ensemble and New Music Orchestra. He has cooperated with the Juliusz Słowacki Theatre in Cracow, Rozbark Dance and Movement Theatre in Bytom, and Supernova Scene in Cracow. For many years, he was member of the Percurama Percussion Ensemble in Copenhagen.
He lectures at the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Cracow.
