Rupociński, Marcin
Composer and photographer, born in 1971 in Wałbrzych; graduate of the Wrocław Academy of Music where he studied composition first with Grażyna Pstrokońska-Nawratil and later with Stanisław Krupowicz. He learned photography at Pho-Bos (diploma with honours from the studio of Natalia Lach-Lachowicz) and at Warsaw’s European Academy of Photography. On an IRCAM scholarship, he took part in computer music workshops in Helsinki and Paris. He also twice received scholarships from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and Society of Authors ZAiKS. His works have been presented at festivals such as Musica Polonica Nova, Poznań Music Spring, Media Art Biennale WRO, Audio Art, Warsaw Autumn, Beijing Modern, and Alkagran. With Cezary Duchnowski he founded the Morphai group for audiovisual projects in 1997. Since 2009 he is a member of the laptop ensemble Tonus Finalis, presenting its members’ electroacoustic works. He has cooperated with many theatre companies, including the Rozmaitości Theatre in Warsaw, National Stary Theatre in Cracow, and Warsaw’s Laboratorium Dramatu. Rupociński is a lecturer at the Faculty of Graphics and Media Art of Wrocław’s Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design (ASP) and at the Chair of Composition of Wrocław’s Academy of Music. In his works he frequently combines music with interactive video art. He is also active in the fields of new media and multimedia installation programming. He is the originator of the cyclic inter-university artistic project Random Check, which has so far involved nearly 150 young artists.
