Dziewiątkowska, Katarzyna
A composer, singer, and music theorist. In 2004–07 she learned classical singing in the class of Bogdan Makal. She graduated from the classes of Krystian Kiełb (composition), Cezary Duchnowski (computer music), and Zbigniew Karnecki (film and theatre music) from the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław (2010), where she also completed postgraduate studies in music theory (2011). An assistant lecturer at this Academy since 2010, she obtained a DMA degree in composition (2014). She is a member of, among others, the Polish Composers’ Union, Society of Authors ZAiKS, and STOART Union of Performing Artists.
Her works have been performed at such festivals as Musica Polonica Nova, Musica Electronica Nova, Warsaw Autumn, Sound Screen Festiwal, Gwiazdy Promują / Stars Promote, and Muzyka Epok / Music of the Ages, as well as numerous concerts at home and abroad. The artist has won multiple awards in national and international competitions and composer projects. Her theatre music has accompanied spectacles throughout Poland. She particularly focuses on music for voices and instruments, the liturgy, film, theatre, as well as what can be called syncretic music. Her theoretical research concerns vocal, theatre, and film music in particular. As a singer, she has premiered and performed many works by young composers.
She has broad experience in the field of popular music, which she has performed since childhood. As a singer, composer, arranger, and producer, she has co-created numerous productions for the television (TVP2, TVN, Polsat, TVP Rozrywka, TVP Kultura) and recorded extensively for music labels (Universal Music Polska, Pomaton EMI, MTJ, Luna Music). She has given performances on the main stages in Poland as well as the United States, Canada, England, Germany, and Lithuania.
