Krzewińska, Katarzyna
Composer and sound artist creating instrumental works, theatre and electroacoustic music, as well as sound installations. She graduated from Cracow’s Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music and Wrocław’s Karol Lipiński Academy of Music (MMus in composition). She has worked closely with the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Hashtag Ensemble, Ex Novo Ensemble, Orkest De Ereprijs, Berg Orchestra, Formy Żeńskie, duoAccosphere, and many others. Her works have been performed at home and abroad during festivals such as the Festival of Premieres – Polish Modern Music, Warsaw Autumn, Wratislavia Cantans, Cracow’s International Festival of Composers, Klarafestival, Festival de Wallonie, Mittelfest, Saxå Kammarmusikfestival, and Forfest Festival. She took part in London Philharmonic Orchestra’s LPO Young Composers Programme, the 24th Young Composers’ Meeting in Apeldoorn, and the 8th MusMA European Broadcasting Project (a work commissioned by the NFM National Forum of Music).
In 2021 she co-authored a collective composition for instrumental ensemble and media (a Warsaw Autumn commission) and composed #nofilter for symphony orchestra, audio playback, and live electronics (a NOSPR commission, premiered at the 9th Katowice Festival of Premieres). She also co-created an experimental electronic music concert at Cracow’s Helena Modrzejewska National Stary Theatre (Stary in Concert vol.1//: Dense Bits), which included her electroacoustic works (two presented as sound installations with actor participation). 2023 saw Krzewińska’s participation in the international project Renewable Music. V4 Composers for Sustainability, for which she wrote a piece for seven instruments, sound installation, and audio playback based on field recordings.
Krzewińska is a 2024 Cracow City Artistic Scholarship holder, participant of the Composer Residencies programme of the SPMK Polish Chamber Musicians’ Association and Society of Authors ZAiKS, and co-creator of the Pssst! Instruments brand, which creates virtual instruments.
