With music to the world!
Centenary of the Polish Society for Contemporary Music

5th conference in the cycle “Polish Music Abroad”

/ 10:00–15:00 – conference proceedings
/ 16:00–18:00 – discussion panel 100 Years of the Polish Society for Contemporary Music

The aim of the conference is to look at the presence of Polish music at the festivals of the International Society for Contemporary Music. This organisation, established to promote contemporary music, was founded in 1922 in Salzburg and brought together composers, performers and critics from all over the world. Since its inception, the ISCM has organised an annual music festival in various countries, an important forum for the exchange of ideas and concepts, where works of young composers representing a variety of directions and trends were presented. Poland joined the ISCM in 1924, with Karol Szymanowski as the first president of the Polish Society for Contemporary Music.

On the centenary of the of the PSCM, we want to recall the Polish composers who presented their music at the prestigious festivals of the ISCM, as well as those who took part in the programming and organisational work, including the four festivals held in Poland.

After the conference, at 4 p.m., we invite you to a discussion panel devoted to the history and current activities of the Polish Society for Contemporary Music. Beata Bolesławska-Lewandowska will present a jubilee essay, and the discussion will be attended by invited guests connected with the Society.

The discussion panel is part of the project Music and Creation. Concerts for the centenary of the Polish Society for Contemporary Music, coorganised by the City of Warsaw
