Yana Shliabanska Ten Commandments (2024) (multimedia performance)

The multimedia performance Ten Commandments is an interpretation of the Polish posters by prominent twentieth-century artists by means of sound, acoustic instruments, electronics, light, video art, and performative action. At first glance, the instructive stories of everyday posters sound ironic, but on deeper reflection each of these slogans can be interpreted in a figurative sense. Then questions arise about oppression and freedom in their various manifestations.

The work was created within the “Gaude Polonia” Scholarship Programme of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.
The Polish Composers’ Union participates in the Zbigniew Raszewski Theatre Institute’s artistic residency programme for Ukrainian authors.
