Anvil and parachutes - Dror Feiler International Festival of Contemporary Music Warsaw Autumn

Anvil and Parachutes is chaos versus organisation, noise versus tone, and improvisation versus composition. In classical music, as well as in contemporary academic music, the focus is on the relationship between different pitches, note durations, rhythmic patterns, and articulation, which are fundamental for creating melody, harmony, and timbre. In contrast, Anvil and Parachutes emphasises other aspects, such as the interplay between synchrony and asynchrony of tones and rhythmic patterns, precision versus imprecision of sounds, transitioning from disorder to order and back again, and then progressing from disorder to even greater disorder.
