Born in 1990 in Jelenia Góra, she is a theatre artist, installation and performance author. She graduated in directing from the AST National Academy of Theatre Arts in Cracow, as well as in journalism and creative writing from the University of Wrocław. Combining research with activism, she focuses in her works on feminism and new technologies. Her awarded productions include dolphin_who_loved_me, In Dreams Begin Responsibilities, Schubert: Romantic Composition For Twelve Performers And String Quartet. She has presented her spectacles and performances in Tokyo, Taipei, Berlin, Oslo, Prague, Bucharest, and Porto, among others. She has collaborated with such composers and musicians as Wojtek Blecharz (Schubert…), Teoniki Rożynek and Marcin Świątkiewicz (Il ballo delle Ingrate), Rafał Zapała and Alex Freiheit (Solastalgia).
Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Szpecht created a lecture-performance titled Cyber Elf reflecting her personal involvement in internet activism, as well as Spy Girls, a spectacle about cyber-activists who spy on soldiers using fake profiles on online dating services to gather information about enemy soldiers, and She Stands in the Middle of the Battlefield, a theatre piece telling the story of a friend and woman-artist’s transformation into a soldier. For combining art and theatrical work with cyber-activism, informing, documenting, and educating audiences about Ukraine and its struggle, Szpecht received the Konstanty Puzyna’s Pebble Award of Dialog magazine and Instytut Książki in April 2025.
