String Quartet for Midnight (Partage de minuit) is part of the cycle The Book of Hours, dedicated to the 24 hours of day and night. The quartet was written in 1993. Midnight is the time of the embodiment of the soul, of its entrapment in the state of ignorance, of amnesia, of the charging of the physical body with negative energies of egocentric nature that are pushing the soul towards hatred, aggression, conflict, horror, fear, pain, etc. It is the time of the soul’s wandering in the night, between birth and death, in deep darkness, in a strange world, far away from h o m e.
