Lang, Klaus International Festival of Contemporary Music Warsaw Autumn

go to content

Born in 1971 in Graz, he lives in Steirisch Lassnitz, Austria. He  studied composition and music theory with Hermann Markus  Pressl, Beat Furrer, and Younghi Pagh-Paan, as well as organ performance. He likes tea and dislikes lawn mowers and Richard  Wagner.

His music is not a vehicle for conveying extramusical content  such as emotions, philosophical or religious ideas, political  propaganda, advertising, or the like. Nor is it a language for communicating nonmusical meanings. Lang conceives of music as  an autonomous and self-sufficient acoustic object. Rather than  using sound as a tool, he explores it, allowing it to reveal the full  richness and beauty of its inner nature. Only when sound remains  simply sound can it be perceived for what it truly is: a temporal  phenomenon; audible time.
