is a Danish composer born in 1978. He grew up and was educated in Aarhus, receiving his professional training in composition at the Royal Academy of Music with Karl Aage Rasmussen  and Bent Sørensen, and in Berlin with Helmut Oehring. His output includes opera, orchestral and chamber music, song, music  theatre, performance and installation works. Rønsholdt employs  a form of “method composing” in which conceptual structures  encompass performance, text and musical expression, often with  references to mainstream music and historical musical forms, as  in Me Quitte, Ord for Ord, Archive of Emotions and Experiences,  Civilizations, and Country.

Rønsholdt has received commissions from leading international  ensembles and festivals, and his works have been performed  across Europe and beyond. He has worked closely with the Danish ensemble SCENATET and has received prizes, grants and fellowships, including a three-year working grant from the Danish  Arts Foundation and a fellowship from the Academy of Arts in  Berlin. His song cycle Songs of Doubt was nominated for the Nordic Council Music Prize in 2020, and Country, a concerto for  singing solo cellist and chamber orchestra, received the Carl  Prize in 2021 in the category Classical Composer of the Year –  Large Ensemble. A substantial discography of his music has been  released by Dacapo Records, Col Legno and other labels.

Alongside his work as a composer, Rønsholdt is Associate Professor of Composition at the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus. He  lives in Aarhus and has been active in several significant boards  and organisations in Danish musical life.
