one of the leading and most versatile Polish pianists, arranger, composer, winner of many international competitions and non-musical awards, including the Polityka weekly Passport Award and the Fryderyk Award of the Polish recording industry. In 2020 he won the Coryphaeus of Polish Music as Personality of the Year. Cofounder and member of ensembles such as Kwadrofonik and Lutosławski Piano Duo. He has followed his own artistic path, attracting the attention of both audiences and critics. He has performed in Europe, Asia, and the Americas. At Carnegie Hall and Chicago Symphony Hall, he presented his own arrangements of Fryderyk Chopin’s works. His project New Warsaw (featuring Stanisława Celińska and the Royal String Quartet) was enthusiastically received by critics and won the Guarantee of Culture and Wdechy awards. Together with Miłosz Pękala he wrote music for Xenophony. Symphony for the Other directed by Jan Komasa. A meeting with Adam Strug led to the writing of the Folk Requiem, which won the Folk Phonogram of the Year title. He coauthored the project Lutosławski, Tuwim – Songs not only for children, arrangements of Witold Lutosławski’s Children’s Songsproduced in cooperation between the Kwadrofonik ensemble and Dorota Miśkiewicz; it became a gold record. Bartek Wąsik cooperated with the Stary Theatre in Lublin on the project Kocham, Lublin, Szanuję marking the 700th anniversary of the city. In 2020 together with Mela Koteluk he composed songs to Krzysztof Kamil Baczyński’s poems; those arrangements were released on the album A Poet’s Astronomy. Baczyński (Mela Koteluk & Kwadrofonik). That same year he launched a series of piano recitals, Pianokrąg, presenting works by artists combining classical and alternative music as well as his own arrangements and compositions, including Pianokrąg/Pianorizon (2020) for piano, synthesizers, electronics and birdsong.
