Aleksić, Katarina
graduated from the violin class of the Faculty of Music in Belgrade. Since 2006, she has been concertmaster of the Serbian National Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra. She has performed as a soloist with the RTS Symphony Orchestra and EKDD Orchestra in Dresden. As a soloist, and within various ensembles, she has performed at numerous recitals, concerts and festivals such as Mozartwoche in Salzburg (2020), Wonderfeel (2019), Bachfest Eisenach, Bachfest Leipzig, Festivalul de Muzică Veche Timişoara, BELEF, BEMUS, International Review of Composers) as well as in concert tours in Canada, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, France, Romania, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, China, and South America. During 2013, she performed as a member of the Mozart Bologna Orchestra, conducted by Claudio Abbado.
She has received the annual award of the Association of Orchestral Artists of Serbia for her contribution to orchestral music in Serbia (solo violin part in the historic recording of Stevan Hristić’s Legend from Ohrid for PGP Radio Television Serbia). She is interested in historically informed performance practice, playing the baroque violin with various ensembles such as Holland Baroque, Christina Pluhar’s L’Arpeggiata, Belgrade Baroque, Ensemble Renaissance. She also teaches baroque violin at the Josip Slavenski Music School, the only institution in Serbia with an early music department. In 2020, she launched a project of international cooperation between Serbian and European artists and institutions, including the chamber festival Europe, Be My Guest, which aims to strengthen the position of art music and culture in Serbia as well as its cultural connections with the EU.
