Sam Pluta (live electronics) and Peter Evans (trumpet) have been working together for over a decade. They have embarked on regular annual tours since 2013. Their output extends from music for a duo of trumpet and live electronics to pieces each of them composes and performs with such large ensembles as Wet Ink, The International Contemporary Ensemble, Evan Parker’s Electro-Acoustic Ensemble, Rocket Science, and Peter Evans Ensemble, and music commissioned by the Harlem Jazz Museum. The duo has released three albums – 2010’s sum and difference, 2014’s Event Horizon, and 2019’s Two Live Sets

In their duo music, improvisation is used to bridge uncharted sonic worlds for Evans’s traditional acoustic instrument with Pluta’s customised and highly flexible so ware. Their instruments are fused into a unified sonic entity at some points, indistinguishable as two voices, while at others they engage in violent counterpoint.
