Percussionist with a postdoctoral degree in musical arts, head of the New Music College and Anthropology of Music Culture Studio at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music, from which he graduated with honours in 2008. He also attended Jean Geoffroy’s masterclass at the Conservatoire Nationale Supérieur de Musique et Danse de Lyon, and the new music interpretation courses in Tallinn, Estonia (2006–9). Winner of nationwide and international competitions, Lorent appears at festivals such as Warsaw Autumn, Aujourd’hui Musiques in Perpignan, Flâneries Musicales in Reims, Novelum in Toulouse, Warsaw Music Meetings, Codes, and Świętokrzyskie Music Days. As a soloist, he has performed with the Polish Radio Orchestra, Orchestra of the Grand Theatre in Warsaw, Kielce Philharmonic, Sinfonia Iuventus, Orchestre Perpignan Méditerranée, and NFM Symphony Orchestra. 

His accolades include scholarships from the Polish Prime Minister, Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Société Générale, ZAiKS Fund for the Support of Creativity, Young Poland programme, Ministry of Science and Higher Education (scholarship for outstanding young academics), and Fryderyk Chopin University of Music Rector’s Award for artistic and academic work (2015, 2017). 

He has premiered works by numerous contemporary composers, including Marcin Błażewicz, Dariusz Przybylski, Ignacy Zalewski, Tomasz Opałka, and Miłosz Bembinow. He specialises in multi-percussion projects and the instrumental theatre. As an expert in these elds, he takes part in conferences and research sessions at home and abroad, as well as serving on the juries of contemporary music competitions. He has inspired several dozen new pieces for percussion, solo and with orchestra. He is the author of research monographs and papers combining music with philosophy, published in Aspiracje (periodical of Warsaw art academies), Polish Academy of Sciences’ Zagadnienia Naukoznawstwa (Problems of Logology), and many other scientific publishers in Poland and abroad. He has presented more than 25 conference papers at nationwide and international conferences and seminars held by, among others, the Fryderyk Chopin University in Warsaw, Warsaw University of Technology, Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University, Polish Academy of Sciences, and Synthesis International Summer Course for Composers. He appears on more than a dozen albums as a soloist and in chamber ensembles.
