countertenor, graduate of the Vocal Department of the Fryderyk Chopin University in Warsaw in the class of Artur Stefanowicz. He made his debut when still a student as Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus at Szczecin’s Castle Opera and Nero in Monteverdi’s L’Incoronazione di Poppea at Warsaw’s Collegium Nobilium Theatre. He has appeared at the Warsaw Philharmonic, Szczecin Philharmonic, Gdańsk Philharmonic, Silesian Opera in Bytom, Polski Theatre in Warsaw, Grand Theatre – National Opera in Warsaw, Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz, NFM in Wrocław, Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio in Warsaw, as well as concert stages in Lithuania, Latvia, Malta, Italy, France, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Kazakhstan, China, Japan, Serbia, and South Africa. 

His repertoire includes roles from baroque to contemporary music, including opera roles such as First Witch in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, Sextus in Handel’s Julius Caesar, Prince Orlofsky in Strauss’s Die Fledermaus, Nero in Monteverdi’s L’Incoronazione di Poppea, Rinaldo in Handel’s Rinaldo, Nero in Handel’s Agrippina, The Angel in Gluck’s Orpheus, Cherubino in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, Stephano in Gounod’s Romeo and Juliet, Andy in Olga Neuwirth’s Lost Highway, Jesus in Sławomir Kupczak’s Unfulfilled Miracle, and Horse/Seaman in Rafał Janiak’s The Manufacture Man. 

Michał Sławecki is renowned for his interpretations of contemporary works, cooperating with leading Polish composers. He has sung Paweł Mykietyn’s Shakespeare’s Sonnets in Rome, Malta, South Africa, Freiburg, Lviv, and Poznań. He has interpreted the title role in Sławomir Kupczak’s Voyager at Warsaw’s Grand Theatre – National Opera, and has appeared on disc in Agata Zubel’s Oresteia, as well as many other radio and TV recordings.
