Aichner, Lorenz C.
Born in Salzburg, he began his piano studies at an early age at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and was soon performing publicly in Austria and Europe. In 1997 he continued with conducting, choral direction, composition and vocal coaching at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. He earned his Certificate of Excellence in 2003, as he was already conducting as Assistant to the Music director at the Erfurt Theatre. In the subsequent seasons he advanced to Principal Conductor.
In the season 2007/08 he accepted the position of Adjunct Choir Master at the State Opera in Hamburg, followed by five years as the Assistant Music Director at the Theatre Hof/Saale.
Returning to Vienna in 2012, he made his debut at the Vienna Volksoper, where he has led many successful productions since. The orchestras under his baton have included the Orchestra of the Volksoper Wien, Tonkünstlerorchester Niederösterreich, RSO Wien, Orchestra of the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz, Hofer Symphoniker, and Erfurt Philharmonic Orchestra.
His multifaceted repertoire includes The Magic Flute, La Wally, La Bohème, Il Tabarro, Gianni Schicchi, Il Trovatore, Prince Igor, Boris Godunov, The Merry Widow, A Night in Venice, Gypsy, West Side Story, and the ballet A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
He has received many international awards, and his activity has taken him throughout Europe and Asia.
