Adamczak, Dorota
studied piano with Joanna Domańska (from 1995) as well as at the Department of Composition, Conducting, and Music Theory of the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice (from 1998), graduating in both disciplines. Since 2001 she has performed with Orkiestra Muzyki Nowej (OMN), with which she has taken part in international contemporary music festivals such as Warsaw Autumn, Melos Ethos in Bratislava, Klang in Copenhagen, and Beijing Modern Music.
As a pianist she has recorded extensively with OMN for radio broadcasts and radio archive as well as record labels. As a chamber and orchestral musician, she has played notably with the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra (NOSPR), Silesian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, Silesian Chamber Orchestra, and Camerata Silesia Katowice City Singers’ Ensemble, under such conductors as Alexander Liebreich, Christopher Austin, Antoni Wit, Gabriel Chmura, Wojciech Michniewski, Jacek Kasprzyk, and Jerzy Maksymiuk.
As a pianist, she has taken part in conducting masterclasses taught by Gabriel Chmura, Piotr Gajewski, Juozas Domarskas, Jerzy Salwarowski, Rafał Jacek Delekta, and Marek Pijarowski. Since 2002 she has been a faculty member at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice where she works at the Composition, Interpretation, Education, and Jazz Department as a pianist in Mirosław Jacek Błaszczyk and Szymon Bywalec’s class of orchestra and opera conducting. Domańska has premiered numerous contemporary works as a chamber musician and member of many ensembles of various sizes.
