ENSEMBLE KOMPOPOLEX
Founded in 2017 in Wrocław by Aleksandra Gołaj, Rafał Łuc, and Jacek Sotomski, the trio performs pieces that are engaged and engaging, often leaving their instruments in favour of cables, keyboards, dance, or singing.
Over the years, the ensemble has appeared at Poland’s major new music festivals, including Warsaw Autumn, Sacrum Profanum, Festival of Premieres, Musica Polonica Nova, Musica Electronica Nova, as well as MMMM 2.1 in Stalowa Wola, Sinfonia Varsovia’s Experimental Tuesdays, and Kontrapunkt Small Theatrical Forms Festival in Szczecin.
From the very beginning, the ensemble has collaborated with the young generation of Polish artists, including Piotr Bednarczyk, Monika Dalach, Nina Fukuoka, Kuba Krzewiński, Paweł Malinowski, Piotr Peszat, Teoniki Rożynek, Rafał Ryterski, Monika Szpyrka, Marta Śniady, as well as composers who have already won international recognition, such as Cezary Duchnowski, Neo Hülcker, Matthias Kranebitter, Simon Løffler, Jorge SánchezChiong, Matthew Shlomowitz, and Jennifer Walshe. The ensemble has shared the stage with Joanna Freszel, Barbara Kinga Majewska, Maciej Koczur, and Rafał Zalech. Apart from working as a trio, the members of Ensemble Kompopolex perform solo, in chamber ensembles, and symphony orchestras.
