Composer, recorder player, singer, improviser, performer, teacher and journalist.
He plays and composes contemporary jazz in many guises, contemporary music, electronic music, post-hip-hop, noise, as well as various varieties of improvised music. He devotes a great deal of attention to working with electronics and electronically processed voice, and creates often complex and intriguing spaces and sound installations. He is one of the few flutists exploring the possibilities of recorders in contemporary, jazz and improvised music.
He has recorded over 35 albums in a wide variety of line-ups. He is the founder and creator of the band Pulsarus, combining jazz with advanced electronics, as well as Core, Prophetic Fall, Myriad Duo. With DJ CueFx, he cofounded the BandFx production company, which has released several albums. He has collaborated with artists such as Mikołaj Trzaska, Agustí Fernández, Rafał Mazur, Joëlle Léandre, Núria Andorrà, Wojciech Waglewski, Adam Pierończyk, Jan Peszek, and Barbara Drążkowska.
As a composer, he is involved in contemporary electroacoustic music using unorthodox techniques and stylistic combinations. He intensively develops the contemporary language of the recorder and human voice combined with electronics. He has composed stylistically diverse music for approximately 100 performances and projects by stage artists such as Paweł Łysak, Bartosz Szydłowski, Michał Zadara, Paweł Świątek, Wojtek Klemm, Katarzyna Raduszyńska, Jan Peszek, Anna Badora, Wojtek Urbański, Kuba Roszkowski, and many others. Shows with his music are played all over Poland and internationally. He is the cofounder of the Bretoncaffe theatre, permanent collaborator of the Akt Theatre, appearing regularly in Poland and internationally with plays such as Icarus, Out of Time, Planet of Roses, and Phantoms. 2019 saw the premiere the creative documentary Symphony of the Ursus Factory, in which his music plays a huge role. In 2020, Aleksandra Kutz’s film Jeszcze zdążę with his music premiered at Docs Against Gravity; Agnieszka Elbanowska’s feature film You Want Peace, Get Ready for War will premiere in autumn 2023.
As composer and performer, since 1998 he has been creating the multifaceted solo project Doministry, which combines contemporary electronic music, post-hip-hop, performance, noise and electro-ambient. He is the creator of the world’s only sound diary, which today comprises almost 500 works.
His major compositions include music for the film Symphony of the Ursus Factory in both album and concert versions, for electronics, vocals and mixed choir and wind orchestra; Spirit of Medusa for recorders and electronics, a response to Witold Szalonek’s cycle of flute works; Harmonies for alto flute and piano, a response to Louis Andriessen’s piece Melodies; and the experimental series Music Diary ongoing since 2015, combining many techniques and philosophies of music, from electronics to field recordings.
