Born in 1975 in Basel, he studied at the New Theatre Academy in Munich (1993–96). He later guest performed in various German theatres. His debut at the Zurich Opera in 1998 was followed by several years on permanent contracts at the National Theatre in Mannheim and the Schauspielhaus in Zurich (under the direction of Christoph Marthaler). Since then, Clamer has been a freelance actor appearing in theatres, films and on television as well as recording radio plays and audiobooks.
