Ryterski, Rafał
A composer, activist, interdisciplinary artist and event curator, born in 1992 in Gdynia. The synthesis of different musical genres is a characteristic feature of his work. Ryterski himself calls this practice genre-bending. Over the past few years, he has also eagerly ventured beyond the conventions of music itself, creating interdisciplinary works at the intersection of performance and theatre. His art thematically revolves around the concept of identity, cultural phenomena specific to the LGBTQ+ community, and exposure of violence mechanisms.
Ryterski’s accolades include selected work (main prize) at the 70th International Rostrum of Composers (Totentanz, 2022), main prize at the33rd Music Biennale Zagreb (2025), joint main prize and audience award at the “PESTKA” Festival of Avant-Garde Theatres and Culture (2024,for the show Prayer under the Miraculous Mosaic in the Parish Church of St Herself). In 2021 he was nominated for Polityka’s Passport awards in the classical music category, for “consistently introducing LGBTQ+ themes in Polish contemporary music.”

He teaches composition, sound art, and technology at the Polish–Japanese Academy of Information Technology in Warsaw (since 2020). His music is performed in both concert halls and clubs. He has released two albums (Tears Are the Diamonds of the Soul, BAS 2021, and Gaymers’ Cheatsheet, Pointless Geometry 2022).
