Malinowski, Paweł
Music composer born in 1994. In his work, he seeks fragile sounds, often referring to the musical past. He is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus (class of classical composition of Simon Steen-Andersen, Niels Rønsholdt and Juliana Hodkinson) and the Karol Penderecki Academy of Music in Cracow, where he obtained a master’s degree in composition with Wojciech Widłak and a bachelor’s degree in music theory with Agnieszka Draus.
He currently works at the Department of Composition at the Academy of Music in Cracow, where he obtained a PhD with honours in 2024.
He has cooperated with musicians from the London Philharmonic Orchestra (as part of the LPO Young Composer programme in collaboration with the Adam Mickiewicz Institute), the New Music Orchestra, Ensemble Modern, Ensemble Linea, United Instruments of Lucilin, and Spółdzielnia Muzyczna. His compositions have been presented at festivals such as MaerzMusik, Gaudeamus, Warsaw Autumn, Sacrum Profanum, and the Festival of Premieres, as well as broadcast by radio stations including BBC Programme 3 and Polish Radio Channel 2.
He won the 1st Prize at the 58th T. Baird Competition for Young Composers, a scholarship from the City of Cracow and the Polish Minister of Culture and National Heritage. His works are published by PWM Edition.
