CHÓR DZIECIĘCY „ARTOS” IM. WŁADYSŁAWA SKORACZEWSKIEGO (WŁADYSŁAW SKORACZEWSKI “ARTOS” CHILDREN’S CHOIR)
Founded by Danuta Chmurska in 2011, the choir cultivates the traditions of children’s natural interactions with music, encouraged by the choir’s patron Władysław Koraczewski, a former soloist of the Warsaw Opera, scout instructor, and a great youth educator.
The choir closely collaborate swith the Teatr Wielki - Polish National Opera and practises at the theatre’s venue. Its members are invited to perform children’s (choral and solo vocal) parts in opera productions. The choir works under the guidance of its artistic director and conductor Danuta Chmurska, music teacher and accompanist Paulina Zajkowska, as well as numerous theatre directors, conductors, choreographers and musicians who create Teatr Wielki productions. The choir’s highlights include appearances in such productions as Carmen, Turandot, King Roger, Jacob Lenz, The Nutcracker, Kurt Weill, Die tote Stadt, Goplana, Carmina Burana, The Magic Flute, and Tosca, as well as the choir’s own productions for childrenand teenagers: Fairy Tale, Where Are You?, Staś’s Musical Journeys, What a Lark at the Opera!, and Stanisław’s Singing Garden.
The choir has also collaborated with the Warsaw Philharmonic (Carl Orff ’s Carmina Burana, Igor Stravinsky’s Perséphone, Anton Rubinstein’s sacred opera Moses).
