Górczyński, Michał
A composer, teacher, soloist and chamber musician, author of theatre and film music, he graduated in clarinet from Warsaw’s Fryderyk Chopin University of Music. He co-founded Kwartludium contemporary music ensemble. As an improviser he has performed with such artists as Kazuhisa Uchihashi, Dror Failer, Ken Vandermark, Mikołaj Trzaska, Zdzisław Piernik, Butch Morris, John Butcher, and Mark Sanders. Górczyński invented the concept of “music for languages”, creating music specifically for the world’s selected languages, such as Yiddish, Japanese, Indonesian, Persian, and English. As a soloist he has played with Wrocław and Szczecin Philharmonic, OMN Ensemble, AUKSO – Chamber Orchestra of the City of Tychy, and the Silesian String Quartet. In the last several years he has focused on the contrabass clarinet, on which he presents contemporary, classical, and ethnic music, as well as improvisations. He is a member of Kwartludium, Bastarda, Polonka, and William’s Things.
