Chief conductor of SWR Vokalensemble since the start of the 2020/21 season, Weinberg studied singing and conducting in Tel Aviv and continued his training with Jörg-Peter Weigle at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin and Grete Pedersen in Oslo. He was a scholarship holder of the Conductors’ Forum of the German Music Council and has won numerous prizes in international conducting competitions, including the special jury award in the competition for young choral conductors in Saint Petersburg in 2013, the 1st Prize of the choral conducting competition in Wrocław in 2014, the Gary Bertini Young Conductors’ Prizes in 2015 and 2016, and the 1st Prize at the Marktoberdorf Chamber Choir Competition in 2017 (with the NOVA Chamber Choir).

In 2015–17, Weinberg was the chief conductor of Oslo’s NOVA Chamber Choir and the National Youth Choir of Norway, in 2019–23, the artistic director of the Euro Choir. Since 2019 he has been the principal guest conductor of Norske Solistkor and head of SWR Vokalensemble.
