Field 9. Evanescence - Wojtek Blecharz
After an eclipse, a new phase usually begins—the light returns. The clearing through which it slowly seeps illuminates the void— the lacuna—but does not yet dazzle. We are not sure whether it is hope that reaches us or still fragments of memories, a faded image. It is still too early to know. Too early to understand everything… The title of the piece, Field, becomes a marker for the sound dramaturgy: the musicians participate in the creation of a kind of “sound field,” an area where sound is present and moves through space along multiple trajectories.
The Sound Fields cycle consists of:
FIELD 1-3.Feeling Feelings for violin, contrabass clarinet and percussion (2018)
FIELD 4.Nexus for nine performers (koto, shamisen, cello, double bass, shakuhachi, daegeum, viola, violin, gongs) (2018)
FIELD 5.Aura for one listener, one performer and seven wireless speakers (2019)
FIELD 6.Vortex for eight performers (bass flute, saxophone, violin, viola, cello, double bass, k-drone/accordion and electric bass) (2020–21)
FIELD 7.Delta for ten performers (bass flute, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, trumpet, violin, viola, cello, percussion and keyboards) (2021)
FIELD 8.Elixir for orchestra in ten groups (2022–23)
