This piece, which I composed during a typical Berlin mid-winter in the middle of the pandemic, was for me a journey of going back to the basics. I wanted to create a piece that would be a playground, open to our favourite ways of connecting with the instruments, with music and each other within the ensemble. This gave the effect of a playfulness, where the identities of the instruments are deconstructed from their idiom by being heavily prepared and extended not only through preparation but also through amplification. I was immersed in sound exploration and instrumentation extravaganza. There are moments in this piece which are absolutely intimate and fragile and there are others that want to break away from this state, which leads to playfulness and temperament. By re-examining fun and simplicity in the process of creating this piece, I attempted to find comfort in uncertainty.
