Based at the Stefan Batory Secondary School no. 2 in Warsaw,  the choir was founded at the students’ initiative in 2018. It first  performed at the alumni reunion marking the centenary of  the Stefan Batory School, held in 2018, and at a mass offered  for the school’s pupils and alumni.

The choir soon made its mark on Warsaw’s musical life. In 2019, at  the Śródmieście Festival of Young Talents, it received the Golden  Inspiration Award and a nomination to take part in an international choral festival; that year, it also won a Silver Band and  the special award for best debut at the Singing Poland Regional  Choir Competition of Choral Academy. In 2022, it received  a Gold Band at the same regional competition.

The Batory Choir maintains an active concert and education programme. It has appeared at Nowy Theatre, Polish Radio’s Witold  Lutosławski Concert Studio, St Florian’s Cathedral, Greek-Catholic Church in Warsaw, and Warsaw Alzheimer Centre. It has  participated in Singing Poland Choral Academy projects, artistic workshops, and community initiatives, presenting concerts  and activities for audiences of different ages and backgrounds.  The choir has also cooperated with the Władysław IV Choir  of Warsaw’s Władysław IV Secondary School no. 8; together,  the two ensembles prepared a performance of Vichnaya Pamyat,  dedicated to the victims of the war in Ukraine.

Original projects, school initiatives, and activities bringing together the pupil and alumni communities are central to the ensemble’s work. Through regular commemorative concerts, workshops, and interdisciplinary ventures, the choir fosters an interest  in choral music among young people and builds a space for creative dialogue through music-making together.
