Kajoki / The Kajoki International Festival of Contemporary Music Warsaw Autumn

go to content

This combination of intellectual and physical rigour (pure  trance!) with creative freedom (the theme here is merely a pretext  for fractally endless improvisation) is hard to find in folklore  recordings from other regions of Poland. Experts claim that  the strength and originality of Kajoki music (from a handful of  villages in the western Radom region) stems from its archaism.  Paradoxically, though, one can also hear here a riotous modernity,  reminiscent for example of the harmolodics of Ornette Coleman.
