A genre-defying production with music by Rafał Ryterski, staged  at Muranów Cinema and combining video art and audio drama  with elements of performance art and theatre.

Every spring, Warsaw residents witness goosanders making their  way from the Royal Baths towards the Vistula. For several hours,  their journey slows the frantic pace of the city. Cars stop, while  a chain of volunteers helps the birds negotiate the maze of buildings in safety. They Have a Language of Their Own! is a slightly  abstract, humorous account of one such journey, inviting us to  consider the relationship between people and nature. Can coexistence in the city develop into cooperation? What happens as  people draw closer to nature—and might nature even begin to  resemble us?

Wild animals are increasingly venturing into cities and taking  advantage of what urban life has to offer. Our guides through  this story are three engaging goosanders—Józefina, Lucyna, and  Lolka—setting off for the river for the first time. Along the way,  they observe human customs and attempt to imitate them, hoping to slip unnoticed into the life of the city. They learn human  behaviour and language, including local dialect and youth slang.  At times they marvel at the achievements of civilisation; they also  discover that what makes life convenient for humans can endanger animals.

Are humans creatures to fear, or can the birds find common  ground with them? We shall discover the answer when, through  a succession of adventures, the goosanders inadvertently attract  the attention of Warsaw residents hitherto absorbed in their  own affairs. During their journey, they pose a question to us  all: is adaptation to our surroundings always the best route to  our destination, or is it worth remaining ourselves—a person,  a duck, a goose, or a merganser? Ultimately, given a little goodwill, we achieve most by working together while preserving our  differences.
