Kupczyk, Aleksandra
born in 1982 in Warsaw, she graduated with honours from Krzysztof Bąkowski’s class at the Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw in 2005. She has won numerous prizes in Polish and international competitions, including the Kiejstut Bacewicz International Competition for Chamber Music (2004, with the Kwarttet string quartet). In the same year, she reached the seminals of the 4th International Tadeusz Wroński Solo Violin Competition in Warsaw.
As a soloist and chamber musician, she has given numerous performances at Warsaw Philharmonic, Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio of Polish Radio, as well as with Koszalin and Olsztyn philharmonic orchestras. She has also given solo recitals in Poland, Germany, France, the Netherlands, and Italy.
In 2002–3 she was the leader in the Polish Jeunesses Musicales Orchestra, and in 2004–5, second principal violinist of Sinfonia Varsovia. Since 2005 she has played in the first violin section of the Warsaw Philharmonic. In 2013 she was the concertmaster in Białystok Opera and Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2015 she became the concertmaster of the Grand Theatre – Polish National Opera in Warsaw. She has cooperated with numerous eminent conductors worldwide. Since 2017 she has permanently played in Chain Ensemble.
She has recorded for the German SWR Radio, Polish Radio, and Polish TV.
In recognition of her outstanding achievements, she received the Mayor of the City of Olsztyn Award (1995 and 1996) as well as a scholarship from the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage (2001).
