Kurkiewicz, Tamara
percussionist, she graduated from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw from the class of Henryk Mikołajczyk and Miłosz Pękala. Currently she continues her studies with Marta Klimasara and Klaus Dreher at the State High School of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart.
In 2018, she won the Main Prize at the 12th Competition of 20thand 21st-Century Music for Young Perfomers. She has also won awards notably at the 10th International Percussion Competition in Fermo, 2nd National Percussion Competition in Poznań, and 13th International Vibraphone Competition in Opole. In 2020, she was invited to join the TROMP International Percussion Competition.
Showing a particular interest for contemporary music, she has participated in the International Klangspuren Schwaz Ensemble Modern Summer Academy and the International Ensemble and Composers’ Academy for Contemporary Music in Graz, where she has worked with artists such as Christian Dierstein, Rainer Römer, Agata Zubel, Mark Andre, Michael Maierhof, and Simon Löfler. As a chamber musician, she has cooperated with the Chain Ensemble within the New Music Scene concert cycle at the Nowy Theatre. She has also appeared at Warsaw Autumn, the “Chain” Witold Lutosławski Festival, “Kody” Festival of Musical Tradition and Avantgarde, and Klangspuren Schwaz.
