Conductor, teacher, and professor of musical arts, she graduated from the University of Silesia’s Artistic Faculty where she still lectures. She has won greatest acclaim as the conductor of the Camerata Silesia Katowice City Singers’ Ensemble, which she has directed continuously since itsfoundation in 1990. The ensemble, composed of singers-soloists, maintains a busy concert schedule, with the leader conducting both unaccompanied pieces and works for voices and instruments, often jointly with outstanding soloists and orchestras.
Anna Szostak has led more than 300 premieres of works by contemporary composers, such as Krzysztof Baculewski, Régis Campo, Wiesław Cienciała, Ryszard Gabryś, Aleksander Gabryś, Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, Wojciech Kilar, and many others. She has also conducted performances of recently discovered centuries-old pieces.
Anna Szostak has appeared on over 60 albums. The Camerata Silesia projects on which she is both the conductor and concept author have won prestigious awards and critical acclaim both at home and abroad. In 2015, she was awarded the Gloria Artis Bronze Medal for Merit in Culture for special achievements in artistic and cultural work, as well as protecting national culture and heritage.
