Garms, Leonhard
Having grown up in Rome, he studied conducting, vocal accompaniment, and music theory at the University of Arts in Graz and participated in masterclasses with eminent conductors such as Peter Eötvös, Arturo Tamayo, and Paavo Järvi. After his studies he worked as a pianist-répétiteur and conductor successively at the Komische Oper Berlin, Regensburg Theatre, and at the Turkish State Opera in Istanbul, as well as assisting conductors such as Kirill Petrenko, Stefano Ranzani, Peter Rundel, and Emilio Pomarico in festival productions and opera companies around the world.
Since 2013 he has been freelance conductor, specialising in contemporary music and music theatre.
